As an educator, you want your students to thrive. We have the knowledge, experience and specialist programmes to help you.
How can my gifted 2-6 year olds benefit from MindPlus?
For 2-6 year olds, MindPlus PreSchool is a fun and stimulating 2.5 hour session each week with a small community of gifted children and their caregivers, led by a specialist teacher (mid-week and Saturday sessions are available). We like to work hand-in-hand with the child’s parents and you, as their regular Early Learning or Y1 teacher, to share each child’s progress and how we can all support them to thrive.
How do I know if a student is gifted?
It's not always easy! Gifted kids can be obvious high achievers, but many "hide in plain sight". Your gifted students could be those who show real potential in some areas but big gaps in others; students who are clearly passionate in some areas but who find it hard to engage in classroom work; and students with real talents but whose differences are holding them back socially and emotionally.

How can my gifted Y2-Y8 students benefit from MindPlus?
Once they are settled at school, we have a number of MindPlus programmes to suit different Y2-8 students, families and schools. We know that very few New Zealand schools have access to the experience and expertise required to run a specialist gifted education programme for their gifted students. We can bring our expertise to you, in a way that works for your school.
All MindPlus programmes provide our neurodiverse kids with:
A specialist teacher
A small group of other like-minded students to share and learn with
A specialised programme that: develops their thinking and conceptual skills; allows them space to dive into passion areas; and helps builds the social and emotional skills they need to thrive
Here’s an information pack on our MindPlus Programmes for Y2-8 students to learn more and to share with your student’s parents.
What programmes do you offer?
Your gifted learners come together at your own school/kura for a half day per week, supported by a teacher from your school and our specialist MindPlus teacher working via Zoom and Google Classroom.
How can I build my own professional expertise?
Gifted NEX is the place to come! This Network of Expertise provides professional development opportunities and resources, bringing together teachers and senior leaders with a special interest in gifted education, Learning Support Coordinators, GATE coordinators and SENCOs.
It is run by NZCGE and supported by the Ministry of Education.
How can my school or early learning service get specialised support?
NZCGE is able to provide consultancy support for schools and early learning services that want to ensure that they are meeting their obligations to gifted learners. We can help with:
Undertaking a self-review to identify gaps in identification and provision;
Supporting you to consult with your community to develop a schoolwide approach;
Providing tailored PLD workshops for senior leaders and classroom teachers;
Developing personalised learning plans for individual students.
